One of the House Mothers, Neema, suffers from epilepsy. She has been on medication to stabilize the condition. Recently, there has been a change in her condition. Despite the medication, she had multiple attacks in a very short time, something that is not normal. We would like help in raising funds to enable Neema to have the scan so that Specialist can be better informed of her condition and hopefully make the changes that will enable Neema to continue with her care of the Children.
The back bone of Diani Children's Village's operations is the House Mothers, who provide that all essential motherly care to the Children. We value this immensely which is why we, as the Management Team, try and help them in any way that we can when we can. Neema has seen a specialist who has recommended that in order for her to be able to begin to trace the reason for the change in Neema's condition, she needs to have an MRI scan among other tests. This is a specialized test and is not covered
With this project the costs of the medical researchers can be payed. The medical research can hopefully find the trigger points of the epileptic seizures. The health insurance is only covering a small part of the costs , so all the help is needed and hopefully Neema can soon start working again without the seizures. Only medical research can help Neema to get through this. Once the results are out, the doctors can look for a way forward.
Diani Children's Village aims to find a family for every child. There are three options: growing up at the children's home, growing up with relatives, or growing up in an adoptive family within Kenya. In this process, DCV is working closely with the Children's Department. The children are our priority and we are trying to do what is best for every single child, taking into account their different needs.
