Venezuelan children are dying of hunger, malnutrition and lack of medicines. "An arepa for my country" is a project to bring food to a children school in La Vega, one of the poorest sectors of Caracas. Your contributions will quickly reach management of this school and will be used to provide daily lunch to more than 500 students . This action will significantly decrease the number of school desertions and keep youth at learning and building a better future for themselves.
It is financially impossible for Escuela Canaima to buy enough food and ingredients required to provide daily lunch to over 500 students due to the hyperinflation situation in Venezuela. For most students, their school meal is the only chance to eat during the day. Your donation provides funds needed to purchase ingredients to make daily lunch for these 500+ students.
This project will provide the required funds that will allow Escuela Canaima provide daily lunch to over 500 students until July of 2018 (end of the academic year). For example, your contribution can help solve the problem as follows: $10 feeds a student for a month $40 feeds one student until the end of the school year (July 2018) $1000 feeds the whole school for a month
In the long term and once students graduate from high school, they can apply for a scholarship with Fundacion Oportunidad y Futuro (FOF). A great example is Jose Gregorio, who attended and graduated from Escuela Canaima, applied to a scholarship with FOF and later graduated from college.
