Due to hyperinflation (IMF* estimated annual inflation at 1,000,000% in 2018) and rapid deteriorating economic condition in Venezuela, school pantries in poor neighborhoods are unable to keep up with continuous grocery price increases. The result is that children may not receive a meal while at school and school drop-out is rising. For most of these children, their school meals are the only chance to eat during the day. *International Monetary Fund*
Your donation provides funds needed to purchase groceries for school pantries (e.g. Escuela Canaima, Pre-schools Cacique Maturin and Semillas del Manana, Escuela Popular de Futbol Infantil) and deliver full daily meals to 800 children in schools across La Vega (one of the poorest sectors in Caracas, Venezuela). For example, your contribution can help solve the problem as follows: $7 feeds a child for a month (Full breakfast and lunch) and $70 feeds one child for the school year.
This program helps keep over 800 children from La Vega sector in the school system. Once children graduate from high school, they can apply for a college scholarship with Fundacion Oportunidad y Futuro (FOF) and break the poverty cycle.
