HIV/AIDS continues to extract a heavy toll on children, families, and societies worldwide despite decades of activism, treatment, research and prevention efforts. Majority of households live in less than a dollar a day and hence can not afford a nutritional diet to infected children.
This micro project will train home based care givers to help monitor HIV infected children, it wil also provide nutritional dietary food supplements like cooking oil, rice, etc to households with children living with HIV in the community.Current recommendations suggest how to improve food intake in such children, such as adding extra energy and protein to local foods, giving the child mashed or chopped food with sauces in the case of mouth sores.
Children living with HIV/AIDS will have improved health as a result of nutritional food support and trained home based caregivers and support groups.
