This project will provide Rural Households with Malaria Prevention Education, supply of Insecticide-Treated Mosquito net (ITN) to 100 households and supply of basic malaria life-saving medicines to children suffering from malaria in rural Mpigi District
Malaria accounts for 50% of deaths for children under 5 in our community,Our Community Health Reports established that about 60% outpatient visits for children under 5 and 70% of hospital admissions are due to malaria in rural Mpigi where we work. The Government of Uganda distributed 21.5 million Long Lasting Insecticide Treated mosquito Nets (LLINs) throughout the country last year in a bid to significantly reduce malaria cases in Uganda, but most of them are now worn out
This project will supply each child and pregnant mothers with long, lasting insecticide treated mosquito bed nets to prevent the infection of malaria and provide Education on Malaria control which is likely to reduce Malaria illnesses and child deaths by 60%
Every dollar raised by this project goes to providing a net to a child and to a pregnant mother in the Mpigi community. The money entirely goes to purchase and distribute bed nets, this will enable children live a healthy life and attend school regularly to those that have started school, pregnant mothers will no longer lose their unborn babies due to malaria.
