This project will purchase 10 more computers and fast internet data package to facilitate 200 rural children and youth learn to use internet. As technology becomes more ingrained in our society, it is increasingly necessary for children and youth to develop computer skills that will set them up for future career success. The internet skills will enable them to keep up with current information, research on business ideas, and learn vital skills regarding education and their future occupation.
Both primary &secondary schools only teach computer theory due to lack of computers& internet, youth in rural Mpigi district have no access to technology, over 50 youth have missed job opportunities because they have no idea on how to use internet and a few that can use it cannot access the service, internet bundles on phone are exorbitant due to high taxes on internet use,$1 per hour an amount that an average Ugandan lives on per day.
The project will stock the available computer space on the Mountains of Hope to expand the programme, we will enroll 50 youth per quarter, will empower them to open up email accounts, social media, internet packages including Google, search among others, the youth will be awarded certificates upon completion to enable them acquire jobs in this competitive market. The project will partner with schools and encourage them to bring children to the facility to learn computer & internet
The project will retain two youth who would have performed better to be permanent internet teaching staff. The project will charge a subsidized fee of $10 per youth for a full course to cater for certificate printing and to show a sense of commitment towards studies
