Improve the Red MenTe (women in STEM)

Summary

Red MenTe, is a network for professional women, students of STEM careers, and women who are interested in these fields. Is currently working in Costa Rica as a National Network, launched by Ideas en Accion in 2015. Currently it has focused on the beneficiaries of the MenTe en Accion program, however, we would like to be able to provide support and new opportunities to women who are immersed in the area of science and technology and who are willing to join soon through a virtual platform.

Challenge

There is a significant lack of women in STEM which limits our possibilities and the generation of new ideas. Due to this, our main purpose is to help the decrement of the gender gap in STEM majors and work environments.

Solution

Through a virtual platform we pretend to make visible and connect women who are currently studying in these fields, professionals and young girls alumni from MenTe, providing the opportunity to share and learn from the experience of these outstanding professionals who are already having a positive impact in our region and in the world, through their contributions in the technology and science. We want to create a platform with stories, networking opportunities and more regional collaborations.

Long-Term Impact

In 2 years we have provided 2544 hours of training and leadership to women through MenTe en Accion, helped 1600+ students learn English through Duolingo en Accion and 57k+ people have watched our TEDxPVJoven talks, and we keep growing.
