Challenge

Majority of girls who become adolescent and have to leave orphanage end up getting married in hopes of securing some kind of "stable" future. However, in many instances these marriage fail or the young women are unable to find employment because they do not have any vocational training or work experience hence leaving them totally powerless. With this project we want to solve the problem of young girls feeling that they do not have an option for self-fulfillment and basic survival.

Solution

This project will be a pilot project where we want to give an opportunity to 5 young orphaned and/or impoverished women access vocational courses to make them more employable and ready for hire. We will also give small business grants so that they can realize a business idea that they had but lacked access to funds. The success of this project will empower future generation of girls to know that there are other opportunities and choices when it comes to their future.

Long-Term Impact

The project will empower young women because it will give them opportunities other than to get married or live in poverty because they will be able to access small business grants and vocational trainings to obtain diplomas that will help them find employment and rise out of poverty. They canlater serve as mentors to others who will seek similar assistance.
