It will repair our main hall school roof!
This micro-project will repair our main hall roof which has been badly broken because of violent hurricanes due to climate change in Cambodia. The roof now poses a danger to our children and staff as well as causing leaks and serious damage. Our main hall is a very important building and was built in 2002. It is the centre of our school where all our resident and outreach children come and study traditional Cambodian arts, do therapeutic workshops, vocational training and performances.
By replacing rotten wooden roof beams we will make a safe, dry structure and then by replacing all broken or deteriorated tiles with good quality new ones, as well as checking that all tiles on the roof are safe, we will make a well-repaired roof. We must do this as soon as possible in the dry season before the rains start.
Both the 20 children who stay at KCDI and our outreach children, can build a future in a safe and caring environment. Being able to receive free tuition allows them to get an education from primary school to university level, receive Cambodian music, dance, theatre, vocational & performance training and transition into young adulthood, giving these young students the only possibility they have of building a future. Since 1994, 450 students have already graduated with positive results.
