Imagine if every young person in the world felt inspired to take action to improve their communities and be active agents of change. In order to change anything one first needs to believe that change is possible. The Young Changemakers Podcast shares the stories of fearless young people working to create lasting change in their communities. In each episode we interview a young changemaker about their story, impact and lessons learned on their journey to make a difference.
Oftentimes young people who start a project to improve their community towards a positive change can feel overwhelmed and alone in their journey. This may result in them giving up as they find themselves struggling to relate with anyone. For most of these young people, even thinking about the possibility of changing anything is out of the question. Studies in different parts of the world show consistently the low percentage of agency young people feel they have to effect change.
Content showcasing diverse changemakers' stories is not always accessible. The Young Changemakers Podcast explores changemakers motivations, struggles, and lessons learned along the way. It inspires young people to take action by hearing success stories of youth from all sorts of backgrounds, who despite a myriad of obstacles, manage to solve an issue they care about. This kind of content helps to understand that even if you struggle to start your project, you are not alone in your journey.
We've had 4 seasons so far, with over 9 thousand listens from 116 countries. Since 2020 it has been featured in the Discovery Education platform which is focused on curating best-in-class digital content to help educators to inspire student curiosity and agency. In 2021 we introduced episodes in Spanish to break down language barriers and in 2023 it was amongst the top 20% of most shared Podcasts globally on Spotify. A 5th season with more resources would allow us to inspire thousands more.
