Thank you so much for your contribution in December towards Passy's schooling. Thanks to your support, Passy was able to start at Cyivugiza Primary School in Primary 6 (6th Grade) in January.
Passy is very excited to be returning to school. He has been out of school for several years so there will be an adjustment period as he reintegrates into academic classes, but we are confident that he will do well this year. Sixth Grade is a particularly challenging year as it is the final year of primary school in Rwanda, and he will take his national exams at the end of the year. Fortunately, because he is attending day school in the local area, Passy will be able to take advantage of MindLeaps' after-school program. This is designed for program alumni as a safe space for academic tutoring and a daily meal.
Several other MindLeaps program alumni are also attending Cyivugiza Primary School. We are so glad that he has an immediate group of friends.
Passy has made great progress at MindLeaps throughout 2017. In addition to his cognitive and Social-Emotional Learning skill development, we have seen his confidence blossom. This culminated with a performance that included a speech by US Ambassador Barks-Ruggles last month. He performed for an audience of friends, local NGOs, and diplomats. In fact, he and fellow MindLeaps student, Aboubakar, danced and presented their own beautiful choreography.
On behalf of Chase, Carlos, and all the staff of MindLeaps Rwanda, we thank you again for your support and helping Passy leap into a bright future.
