Chase & Carlos have traveled to Kigali, Rwanda, twice since the summer: "We are in love with Kigali and its culture, and we love all the students at MindLeaps, but have really bonded with one in particular, Passy. Passy is a talented 16 year old with a great passion for dance. All he needs to change the history of poverty in his family is education! For only $2,000, Passy can go to school and have a safe dormitory, daily meals, uniforms, books, and a stepping stone to make his dreams come true."
Passy lives with his mother, aunt, brother Didier, and younger sister. Passy completed 6th grade before dropping out of school due to extreme poverty. Passy is a passionate and hard-working dancer and his biggest dream is to become a dance teacher at MindLeaps in the future.
After completing the MindLeaps program, Passy has built the cognitive and life skills needed for him to be successful in school. Now all he needs are the funds to get him there. These funds will pay for Passy to go to school and have a clean dormitory, regular food to eat everyday, school supplies, uniforms, and specialized tutoring.
At MindLeaps, dance is about transforming the perceptions and behavior of street children, thereby helping them re-integrate into society. Instead of begging on the streets, MindLeaps students become active members of society who participate in formal education, enter the employment sector, and are engaged members of their communities.
