As a result of the EL-NINO phenomenon that is devastating across Southern Africa, Zimbabwe is among those countries. Currently,90 percent of families in my community are facing running water scarcity due to the unavailability of it, because the water table has reached its lowest level. This micro-project is going to bring relief to many people in Rusape who are struggling with water shortages. We are going to solve this problem by drilling solar-powered Boreholes in four villages.
Communities in Rusape, Makoni District in Zimbabwe are facing running water shortages as a result of the EL-NINO drought that is currently wreaking havoc in Zimbabwe. Water sources have dried up earlier than expected because of low rainfalls that have been experienced in the previous rain season.
This micro-project will go a long way in solving the water scarcity problem by drilling solar-powered boreholes in 4 villages, in this small farming town. The affected villages are Magamba, Mabvazuva, Vhengere, and Sanzaguru.
The project will promote Water Sanitation and Hygiene ( WASH) in our communities. The initiative will also help eliminate communicable diseases such as Cholera and Typhoid that are caused by water shortages and lack of hygiene. This as a result will bring relief and directly save 3000 families from the effects of water scarcity.
