Ten Afghan women will gain education and skills training in poultry farm management. The women and their families will benefit from the sale proceeds from the chickens and eggs, helping to lift them out of poverty. The women will gain education at the adjoining Learning Center improving their capacity to take care of family needs and find work. The project will also help reduce the isolation that many women face giving them a place of social interaction.
Afghan women have been left behind in terms of education and social equality as they live in a country still battling violence and civil strife. Many families live in poverty and the women suffer the most with the lack of education hindering their ability to improve their circumstances. They need education and income-generating skills so they can provide for their families and start small businesses. This project will create a small poultry farm near a AIL Learning Center.
