Campaign Overview
GivingTuesday provided us with the platform and opportunity to acquire donations and funding from a large global audience who might otherwise not be aware of our campaign. The funding we received from the microproject was allocated towards our core tutoring programme and assisted us to support high school learners with after-school tutoring, career guidance, mentorship support, computer literacy and a holiday programme.
Campaign Evaluation and Reccomendations
While conducting the GivingTuesday campaign, our Business Development team did an evaluation of the campaign and pinpointed areas of improvement for future campaigns. Some of the reccomendations include:
- Prepare marketing packs/campaign identity 1 month in advance to promoting IkamvaYouth on social media
- Send email circular to all IkamvaYouth staff to encourage participation and involvement
- Obtain advertising costs from various Facebook and Instagram 1 week prior and compare them. Check the budget to see whether there is sufficient funds to do a post boost
- Encourage IkamvaYouth Staff and board participation through donating or sharing our content on social media
- Identify theme and financial ask 1 month before campaign commences
- Include multimedia type content for future campaigns
- Try and get IkamvaYouth Alumni invloved in some way
- Research campaigns of competing NPO's
- Get IkamvaYouth Partners and stakeholders involved with the campaign by donating to our cause or sharing our content
Challenges Faced During Campaign
Due to the uniqueness of the campaign, we only had 24 hours to promote, publish and generate visibility for our campaign
Syncing campaign launch and promotion with GMT, SAST and EST.
Conclusion
We were thrilled to be a part of the GivingTuesday campaign for 2024. Although we didn't reach our financial target, we were able to raise considerable awareness for our cause. We also learnt valuable lessons from the campaign and hope to capitalise on our learnings in order to produce better outcomes going forward.
