Our Eldercare program continues to run as we visit the Elderly in homebound situations. This project was started to help people who have no transportation and are physically unable to come to the Clinica de Esperanza. They also do not have the financial ability to pay someone to bring them to the clinic.
We have added the ability (when deemed necessary) to transport the elderly to the clinic for care which may be needed for their conditions. The psychological impact has been the greatest as they are normally not able to get out from the small world they live in. We have found it particularly rewarding to stop at a poupourri (very small family run stores). They get to see something besides their own walls in their homes.
The Hondurans have a great respect for the Elderly, letting them go first in line, stopping for them to cross the street. Having said this, the others do not have the resources to help them financially or care for them.
It is a great priveledge to provide care where none is available. Thank you for your kind support.
