This project will unlock professional growth for 40 women in Puerto Rico who rarely have access to high-level training. Many are heads of households, carrying the weight of family and classroom alike under difficult conditions. With enhanced preparation, they will return to their schools with renewed confidence, modern strategies, and a vision for shaping communities that thrive in peace and equity, as well as being better equipped to support students and families who live below poverty line.
In Puerto Rico, nearly 9 of every 10 primary school teachers are women, many of whom carry full responsibility for their families. Yet professional growth opportunities are costly and scarce. Without access to continuing development, educators cannot bring the most effective practices to their classrooms. This project addresses the gap by providing high-quality training for women leaders who are central to advancing equity and breaking cycles of poverty.
Funding participation costs will enable 40 women to receive advanced Montessori preparation with practical tools they can immediately apply. They will collaborate with peers, strengthen teaching strategies, and expand their professional network. Each trained educator becomes a multiplier of knowledge and hope, impacting hundreds of children and families. In this way, the benefits extend far beyond individual careers to entire communities across Puerto Rico.
The investment in 40 women educators today will ripple for decades. Each participant will shape hundreds of young lives with practices that cultivate confidence, empathy, and civic responsibility. Families will experience stronger support, and schools will become centers of resilience. Over time, this collective growth strengthens public education as a pathway to social mobility, narrows inequality, and contributes to a Puerto Rico where peace is lived daily.
