This project will provide free nutritional complements to children in the North Sierra of Jalisco, whose families have lost their jobs or their income is reduced as a consequence of the covid-19 pandemic. We aim to provide 1,200 weekly endowments of nutritional complements that will ensure a proper nutrition for 300 children during one month, helping them receive the nutriments they're lacking because of a weakened family economy and little food available.
Covid-19 as unprecedented as it is, has caused several side effects being the loss of jobs the most concerning. We could think that at the North Sierra, Covid-19 may not have that much effect, but many men and women leave their communities everyday to come to the city to sell some of their handcrafts at the markets to get some money and basic food, and many services like food and medications come from the city, making the crisis for the Wixaritari communities even worse especially for children.
With this project, ONI will guarantee the free delivery of the nutritional complement Oniformula, to the families at the North Sierra of Jalisco, especially to those who have lost their income sources as a cause of the Covid-19 pandemic. Once a month, ONI's team will visit the communities, making sure to follow all the security and health recommendations, and giving every child a monthly supply of Oniformula, making sure that during that month, the children will have a sure source of nutriments.
By providing the Oniformula to the Wixaritari communities, we make sure men and women don't have the need to leave their homes and risk themselves to get the disease. Also, being it free for them, we make sure children won't suffer the consequences of not having enough food at home and making it even a worse situation having to face undernourishment and its consequences. This project has the goal of being some kind of shield for the Wixarika community by serving one basic need: child nutrition.
