This project will fund a reverse osmosis water treatment system that will transform Adaklu Kpetsu's existing borehole into a reliable source of safe, clean drinking water. Water quality testing revealed that the borehole contains sodium levels that exceed safe drinking water standards. The reverse osmosis system will remove the excess salt, and the treated water will be stored in a second polytank for community use, providing families with year-round access to safe, dependable drinking water.
The community of Adaklu Kpetsu has a borehole, but the water is hard and salty, with sodium and chloride levels that are too high to meet safe drinking water standards. Conductivity, sulfate, and total dissolved solids also exceed acceptable levels. Without treatment, families cannot rely on their existing borehole for safe drinking water, leaving the community without a reliable source of clean water.
This microproject will fund a 2-ton reverse osmosis system to treat water from Adaklu Kpetsu's existing borehole. The system will remove the high levels of salt and other minerals that make the current water unsafe for drinking. Once installed, the reverse osmosis system will allow the community to use its existing borehole as a source of safe, clean water.
The long-term impact of this project will be reliable access to safe, clean water for families in Adaklu Kpetsu. By treating the community's existing borehole water, the reverse osmosis system will provide a lasting solution to the high levels of salt and minerals in the water. Families will no longer have to rely on water from the nearby river for drinking, helping improve health and daily life for children and families throughout the community.
