HOCAP Report on Christmas love box program for 2020
HOCAP set out to raise funds to bring the joy of Christmas to the less privileged in the community. This year HOCAP reached out to more people during the Christmas season than it had done in the past ten years.
The Christmas love boxes contained different items depending on the age of the child. The items included packed lunch, a bottle of drink, bowl, cup, spoon, towel, exercise books, pencils, pens, erasers, sharpeners, crayons, story books, mathematical sets, socks, toys, biscuits, toffees and chocolates.
Nyitawuta community: Over 400 community members gathered on the 26th of December 2020, to gather together during the Christmas season and receive a packed of lunch and a bottle of drink. 220 children and youth out of the 400 gathered, received the Christmas love boxes (nearby communities' members, especially children, also came to join the people of Nyitawuta to celebrate the day).
Save Them Young orphanage: 74 children, youth and 6 care givers in the orphanage received Christmas love boxes.
Power of Love orphanage: 35 children, youth and 5 caregivers of the orphanage received Christmas love boxes.
Rema orphanage: 25 children, youth and 5 caregivers received Christmas love boxes.
Street/homeless children and adults: 40 street children received the Christmas love boxes and 45 homeless adults received a packed lunch and bottled drink.
TOTAL: In total we reached out to over 600 underprivileged people with 410 receiving the Christmas love boxes.
Donations: $3500 was raised in total from all sources. Some people also donated items. All drinks were donated.
On behalf of the communities we serve, we thank you for the joy you helped us to provide by supporting the 2020 Christmas program. In these challenging times of the pandemic, we couldn't have done this without you. The joy on the faces of the recipients was humbling. Thank you.
