200 Afghan familes will gain education and skills training in how to care for poultry and receive 5 chickens. The women and their families will benefit from the sale proceeds from the eggs. The familes will also have a homegrown source of eggs for their meals and be helped out of food insecurity.
Afghan women have been left behind in terms of education and social equality as they live in a country still battling violence and civil strife. Many families live in poverty and food insecurity with women suffering the most. This project will help families by providing a food source and an income from the sale of eggs.
Families will be trained in caring for poultry. The birds will be raised for meat and eggs with proceeds from sales being a homegrown source of income. The women will gain valuable skills and self-confidence from learning how to care for a flock of chickens. The families will have a food source.
