Report "Little path to school: Toy libraries”

Dear donors,

Next, we present the first progress report of the project "Little path to school: Toy libraries” that we have implemented teenagers in the communities of La Fortuna, Capulin, Pinabetal, Guaquitepec, San Jerónimo Tulijá and San Pedro Tulijá (Chiapas) thanks to your support.

During September 2022, fine motor tests were administered to 128 children, with the support of 80 t in their communities. Of these it was detected that, despite their great taste for drawing, they have a poor reading capacity.

Fine motor skills were rated on a scale of 5, with 1 being the lowest level and 5 being the highest level. With the above we obtained that the bulk of the girls and boys start with a fine motor skill of level 2, followed by a third of the participants who have a fine motor skill of level 3.

In October, playful materials such as crossword puzzles, labyrinths, drawings and readings, and work supplies such as tables, benches and paintings, were delivered for activities guided by young people. To these activities have been added workshops focused on the promotion of child savings, where they have been explained the importance of knowing how to manage money and where savings objectives are set. At the same time, they were given piggy banks to protect their savings and fortnightly young people monitor these savings.

For their part, teenagers have developed skills related to group organization, teamwork, and leadership to implement work sessions with children.

These activities will continue until April, when a fine motor test will be lifted again to assess progress and each child's final savings will be counted.

Reporte “caminito a la escuela: ludotecas itinerantes” 1er reporte

Estimado donante:
