3 Generations

3 Generations is a non-profit organization that documents stories of human rights abuses through film. We enable survivors of crimes against humanity to record their experiences as an act of healing, a call to action and to create historical evidence. We amplify and honor each witness's voice by creating broad audiences: film festivals, educational outreach, theatrical and community screenings, social media, partnerships, web-channels and more. Our goal is to influence the national dialogue and build momentum for social change.

Programs

3 Generations focuses on providing survivors of atrocities with a platform to share their stories. The stories we shoot vary in terms of style and subject. Currently, 3 Generations' work is focused in five major areas: sex trafficking, Native American women, Syrian refugees, survivor stories, and cultural regeneration. In 2013, 3 Generations completed work on its first feature length documentary entitled TRICKED, which exposed the dark world of sex trafficking in America. The film premiered in December and is currently being distributed through First Run Features and a new 'Theater-on-Demand' service called Gathr. In addition to TRICKED, 3 Generations produced Native Silence; a short film that focuses on the stories of four Native American women and their struggle with identity. Currently, 3 Generations is in the midst of production on a new feature film titled A Different American Dream, which focuses on the Mandan Hidatsa and Arikara Nation of Fort Berthold, North Dakota. The film explores how members of the MHA Nation are confronting the longterm impacts of fracking on their land. As we move forward, 3 Generations looks forward to pursuing these initiatives while building our base of short survivor interviews and stories of cultural regeneration.
