The mission of OPDGL is to contribute to the sustainable consolidation of peace in the Great Lakes countries and in Africa by promoting democracy, good governance, and the rule of law through dialogue among peoples, the prevention and peaceful resolution of conflicts, the defense of human rights and social justice, civic education, participation in and monitoring of electoral processes, as well as the strengthening of security, solidarity, and good neighborly relations among communities.
