Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo faces severe environmental destruction caused by conflict, deforestation, pollution, displacement, and poverty. Forests have been destroyed, waste management is almost nonexistent, and polluted water increases disease outbreaks. Thousands of vulnerable youth and marginalized girls lack jobs, education, and opportunities. Without urgent environmental action and community health education, families remain trapped in poverty, illness, and climate insecurity.
This project trains and mobilizes youth in North Kivu, South Kivu, and Maniema to lead environmental protection and community health campaigns through music, theater, radio programs, recycling, agroforestry, and reforestation activities. Youth clubs will create tree nurseries, plant trees, recycle waste, grow medicinal plants, and organize awareness events that reach thousands of families while creating income opportunities for unemployed youth and girls.
This project will help build a new generation of environmental leaders in Eastern Congo. Over time, communities will benefit from cleaner neighborhoods, restored forests, improved public health, and stronger local economies. Youth-led agroforestry and recycling activities will create sustainable livelihoods while reducing environmental damage, climate risks, and disease. Families will gain long-term resilience, and young people will become active protectors of their communities and natural.
