The ongoing instability in Venezuela has led to a mass exodus that the UN is calling the “largest in the recent history of Latin America and the Caribbean”. Migration rates out of the country continue to spike as people escape crippling hyperinflation and devastating food and electricity shortages.
Neighbors including Colombia, Peru, and Chile have responded by welcoming Venezuelans into their countries. However, funding is needed to enable local communities to feed hunger-afflicted families, provide previously inaccessible medicine, and address the education gaps affecting displaced students.
Each of the projects below will support our vetted nonprofit partners providing basic needs, for displaced Venezuelans. In addition, GlobalGiving partners are working on long-term solutions that integrate migrants into the societies of host countries. This list of responding organizations and their recovery projects will continue to grow as our partners in the affected areas have the capacity to post projects and updates.
We believe organizations that are deeply rooted in local communities are often in the best position to provide long-term support for disaster victims.
