Our Hand to Hand Foundation is are riding 800km in the month of October and there will be a shorter ride of 64km for the 5-6 year old kids! The riders are people whom the Hand to Hand Foundation regularly supports by providing education, food, job training, housing and a safe refuge for trafficked and abused children. There are many different distances so everyone can participate at their level, making it inclusive for all! You can sponsor us, or do your own ride and donate.
In Thailand there is little or no social insurance and the assistance from the government has not filtered down to the poorest of the poor. Many families struggle to make ends meet and this has resulted in Thailand have one of the highest suicide rates in South East Asia. Hand to Hand provides support to families so that they do not abandon their children into orphanges due to poverty. We feed over 250 families every week as well as providing education and health care.
Hand to Hand has a wholistic approach to helping the poor which includes education, food, medical care, housing, job training to help skill unemployed people for employment. Without education their present and future situation iis bleak. Without food and housing families feel they have no other choice but to abandon their child to ensure they are given the basic needs. Job training develops self esteem and hope as they actively make difference in their own situations and those of others.
Helping people to become healthier and appreciate the benefits of exercise in their daily lives improves physical and mental health. Whilst reskilling themselves and waiting for the economy to regenerate, this group of people are actively taking part in a project themselves and others. Most of the people participating in the ride are people Hand to hand helps. They want to help themselves and others by raising funds for the programs they benefit from.
