Join Swim for Good : Support refugees to develop a life-saving skill by donating to the Yoga and Sport With Refugees swimming program in Lesvos, Greece. More than 10,000 people each year travel a treacherous 12 km distance from Turkey to Greece in the search of a safer future. We want to raise awareness about the refugees' journey and ask for your support to fund our unique trauma-sensitive, learn-to-swim program providing safety, mental and physical health, and peaceful relationship with water.
Each year, countless individuals embark on perilous sea journeys, risking their lives in search of safety and better opportunities. These arduous journeys are often traumatic leaving many with a deep fear of water which persists through time, and calls for organized support and care.
This campaign aims to raise awareness about this challenging migratory journey, supporting the development of a life-changing skill in a safe and supportive community. Our swimming programs empower individuals by healing their fear of water and fostering a positive reconnection with it, providing safety on the island of Lesvos and beyond. Swimming is a key life skill included in national curriculums around the world but that most refugees have not yet had an opportunity to learn.
Our swimming programs have long-term positive impacts by empowering more than 100 individuals per month to rebuild their lives, restore confidence, and cultivate a sense of belonging in their new communities. It especially unlocks a new instrument to be used for a healthy life, especially as an asset for people based on an island. Moreover, it also empowers parents, breaking fear cycles and enabling them to teach relatives, especially their kids, fostering a fear-free environment.
