We work with approx. 100 young people from rural primary schools to help them to learn social and digital skills. Youngsters learn how to prepare short movies to show their activity and how to express themselves. To show their work to the public we organize the Young Volunteering Film Festival "Volunteering - that's what the MOVIE is about". Thanks to film classes and participation in the Festival, youth can develop their social and digital skills, build a sense of agency and self-confidence.
It all starts with a dream. Kid's dreams shape the place of residence. The smaller the town, the narrower the horizons. Kids don't go beyond their horizons because they don't know they can. We help them broaden their horizons and make them aware of their possibilities. Polish public school does not teach social and digital skills, but focuses on individual development. Our project allows to go beyond the scheme and learn youth in practice.
You can't learn how to swim without getting into the water. Likewise, you cannot learn social competences without experiencing and testing them in practice. This is our rule. We help youth to learn cooperation, creative thinking and digital skills. They learn how to perform in front of the camera, make their own shots, and create scenarios. They will overcome their fear of public speaking. The filming workshops we provide give them the first experience in movie making.
"Tell me and I will forget, show me and I will remember, let me experience and I will understand" - a quote from Confucius is our motto. The implementation of the project allows kids to believe in their abilities and empower youth from rural areas, and improve social and digital competence. It helps them to be better prepared for adulthood. Positive feedback from youth and teachers proves that the program is effective.
