Youth Governance Labs for Indigenous Leaders is progressing slowly; so far, mobilization of potential youth, initial consultations with relevant community actors, and internal project planning have begun. These engagements have clarified the governance challenges facing the indigenous Maasai leaders. Initial planning for the governance labs has also begun, including the structuring the program content, learning methods, and project logistics.
The main issue affecting the implementation has been the challenge of securing adequate and timely financial support. While we are still continuing with the resources available, the project activities require substantial funding before they can be implemented effectively.
Consequently, various planned activities have been delayed and put on hold. This has affected the project's ability to transition quickly from the initial stage. However, despite these challenges, the youth indigenous leaders are optimistic that the project will get the financial support required and proceed to full implementation. Additional partnerships relevant to the program will also help to strengthen its implementation and achieve meaningful progress in this project in Narok County.
