The project was designed as the result of needs assessment conducted by the National Coalition of Civil Society Organizations of Liberia (NACCSOL) in Zorzor town, Yealla, and Fissibu town relating to peace and reconciliation initiatives within the three towns . this project is to work closely with the following stakeholders such as the youth, women, local authorities, traditional and community structures that will bring relevance to the project to unite both tribal groups within the district.
The National Coalition of Civil Society Organizations of Liberia (NACCSOL) identified tribal conflict among the two tribes in the Zorzor ,District, Lofa County as key problem to undermine the peace in Liberia. During the 14 years of civil war in Liberia the Lorma and the mandigoes tribe fought each other as enemy from the same town and district. Based on the study conducted by the NACCSOL in the district April 10-17,2019 shows that there a need to quickly intervene to stop the tribal conflict .
. It is our conviction that at the end of the project our beneficiaries capacities will be enhanced in conflict mediation, peace building and community reconciliation mechanisms. It is also expected that the youth will serve as community peace ambassadors for community driven violence or community before it escalate. This project has two objectives with the mindset of building the capacity of youth and disseminating peace messages that will change the mindset and attitudes of youth to be agents
-Create enabling environment for the community to understand peace and reconciliation service delivery through agreeable community structures - 15 youth community peace educators capacity enhanced in conflict mediation, peace and reconciliation -Reduction of violence among among the stakeholders in the three towns in 15 communities in Zorzor district ,Lofa County. -Increased unity among the citizens in the three counties -100% total involvement of beneficiaries in conflict prevention and
