Thank you for standing with us in our continued efforts to empower Pakistan’s young people to become constructive voices for peace, tolerance, and social cohesion.
Since our last update, PILDAT has continued to advance the spirit of Youth as Change Makers: Promoting Peace in Pakistan through its wider work with young people and its public awareness initiatives. While the project’s planned in-person engagements have not yet been undertaken at the scale originally envisionedOur social media platforms have provided an important avenue for this continued engagement. Through awareness campaigns and youth-focused content, PILDAT has been able to take messages of democratic participation, tolerance, dialogue, and social responsibility to a wider audience. These efforts are particularly significant in an increasingly polarised information environment, where young people are often exposed to competing narratives without sufficient opportunities to question, understand, and engage with them critically.
For PILDAT, promoting peaceful and informed civic engagement is closely connected to the broader strengthening of democratic culture in Pakistan. Young people need spaces where disagreement can be approached through dialogue rather than division, where diverse viewpoints can coexist, and where participation in public life is grounded in knowledge, responsibility, and respect. These principles continue to inform our youth engagement and communications work. The experience of the past year has also reinforced the importance of creating sustained opportunities for young people to move beyond awareness and into meaningful dialogue. With greater resources, we aim to build on the foundation already established and expand the project into more structured engagements, including university-based discussions and other youth-focused forums. These activities would allow young people to interact directly with experts and peers, examine complex social issues, and develop the confidence to contribute positively within their communities.
We see this as more than a standalone initiative. Youth engagement, democratic dialogue, and peaceful participation are central to PILDAT’s broader mission of strengthening democratic institutions and fostering an informed citizenry. The Youth as Change Makers project therefore remains an important part of this larger commitment. As resources become available, we hope to broaden the project’s reach and create more sustained opportunities for young people across Pakistan to participate in conversations that promote understanding rather than division. We remain committed to developing this work and to ensuring that young people have a meaningful role in shaping a more peaceful, inclusive, and democratic Pakistan.
Thank you for continuing to stand with us in this important effort.
Warm regards,
Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development And Transparency – PILDAT
