Armenia is a country involved in several conflicts with his neighbours, but that is not the only problem. For Armenian society the culture of violence is acceptable, human rights and the principles of democracy are not-respected, because of cultural, economic and political background people live within. The main intention of this initiative is to help young people start to think critically using the theatrical tools and other means of public art and dialogue.
Armenia is a country involved in several conflicts with his neighbors, but that is not the only problem. There are a lot of other problems within the Armenian society, which demand long term, everyday work and huge efforts to be solved. For Armenian society from the oldest to the youngest the culture of violence is acceptable, human rights and the principles of democracy are not-respected because of the cultural, economic and political background people live within.
Using the tools of Forum Theater methodology and different means of Art (movie screening etc) young people will have a chance to address their experiences with violence in families and society, to raise and discuss taboo issues associated with conflict and violence, and the need for peace. The project will create a safe space and opportunity for young people to face the problems directly, share their interests, and be involved in peace processes and become active actors in their communities.
The intention of this initiative is to create a space for young people from different communities of Armenia to look at things in a new way, to think critically and to see the alternatives of solving the conflicts which effect them everyday. The aim of this initiative is to create a respect towards a culture of peace, democracy and human rights, as well as create a conciseness that being a citizen is important from the perspective of the realization of human rights, diversity and responsibility.
