The children in our school - some as young as five - are living with the most severe epilepsy and associated conditions, experiencing up to 40 seizures a day. Our current school is becoming unfit for our students complex needs and desperately needs replacing. As a result we are having to turn young people away, some of whom have nowhere else to go. We urgently need your support so we can open the doors to our New School in time for the first day of term in January 2016. Join our Galaxy of Stars!
Our school is very old and becoming unfit for our students' complex needs. To combat this, we have been working tirelessly on a campaign to build a new school. We are now in the critical stages of fundraising. We urgently need to fit out 15 classrooms and 4 therapy rooms with soft surfaces and all of the specialist equipment needed.
With your help we will be able to purchase all of the specialist equipment needed to completely finish one of our classrooms. Our students will be able to thrive in the new school which will balance safety and independence. It will have soft surfaces and multi-sensory areas reducing anxieties, helping our students concentrate. Our students' medical needs will be met and their education will be stimulating, giving them the very best start in life.
This project will directly benefit 90 of our current students and also our future intake of students for years to come. Many young people with epilepsy do not achieve their potential in education. In fact, 95% of pupil's with the condition struggle in mainstream school. This is why we will also use this amazing new facility to forge ahead with pioneering research into the barriers that epilepsy has on educational attainment, providing solutions that will transform lives throughout the UK.
