Thank You For Celebrating Our Tenth Year With Us!

Thanks to your support, Arts For All was able to celebrate our 10th anniversary with a wonderful year full of arts classes in every discipline and in every borough! In 2018, Arts For All helped students create original videos, dances, plays, picture books, and more! Some highlights include:

- A sock puppet parody of Law & Order created by youth at Incarnation Children's Center as part of our Video Creation Project

- A run of The Magician's Assistant, an original play by Arts For All Teaching Artists Mélissa Smith, presented free to students from AFA partner sites as part of our Audience Project (pictured above)

- Self-portraits and group collages made by kindergarten students with special needs in our Artistic Residency Program

All this and so much more was made possible with your support, and the support of donors like you. Thank you! Throughout the year, we featured some of our donors, student work, partners, and programs in our 10th Anniversary Spotlights. If you missed them, and want to learn more about Arts For All, you can view them all here!

For ten years, Arts For All has offered accesible artistic opportunities to children in NYC who face social-economic, physical, or emotional barriers to exploring the arts. We can't wait to show you what the next ten years are going to bring!

2008 - 2018: Ten Years Gone By

In 2018, Arts For All was thrilled to celebrate our 10-Year Anniversary as a non-profit!

For a decade we have made arts accessible to thousands of children from all over New York City with the help of supporters like you! Over the years, Arts For All has received increased support that led to more programs for both long-term partners and new organizations alike; displayed students' artwork in public space for the neighborhood to see; and presented free professional theater. This year, we shined a spotlight on some of Arts For All's supporters, student work, partners, and programs that have been an intregral part of the work we do. Here's a few of the Spotlights from this past year:

January Donor Spotlight: Arts For All is grateful for the support of longtime donor Amy Losak! Amy, daughter of poet Sydell Rosenberg (look out for her upcoming book H IS FOR HAIKU from Penny Candy Books, pennycandybooks.com), has funded programs combining Haiku Poetry and art disciplines like music, drama, and visual arts.
March Partner Spotlight: PS 15 on the Lower East Side in Manhattan has been an Arts For All partner since 2009. Thanks to the strong partnership, Arts For All worked with PS 15 to pilot Literacy Through the Arts, the arts literacy program for students in grades K – 2. The program continues to run at PS 15 and since then has grown to serve two additional schools.
September Program Spotlight: Video Creation Project is a series of video workshops where, guided by a teaching artist, students learn the basics of filmmaking, from conception & storyboarding to filming & editing, to create a short documentary or narrative film. October Student Work Spotlight: In 2012, students from The Green School (renamed Williamsburg High School of Arts & Technology) participated in Artistic Residency Program: Visual Arts. They got an opportunity to present their work in an art show at Ngam Restaurant. Their work hung in the East Village restaurant for 3 weeks for the whole neighborhood to see.

10 Years of Back to School!

Spotlight: Linden Arts Fund supports Visual Arts

Summer has come and gone, the days are slowly getting shorter, and a new school year has started! Arts For All hopes that everyone is getting off to a great start in the 2018-19 school year! As students, teachers, and school staff are getting settled, AFA is working to get arts programs started.

2018 marks 10 years of back to school and getting to know new groups of students through an arts lense like:

Theater icebreakers
Painting their point of view
Movement to express who they are
Filming their world view

We cannot wait to get Literacy Through the Arts and Artistic Residency Program going in schools as well as other opportunities to expose New York City school students to the arts. Keep an eye out for our residencies in the 2018-19 school at http://www.arts-for-all.org/what-we-do/current-schedule

July Supporter Spotlight: AFA is grateful the support of Coffee for Less, an Internet coffee shop for homes, offices, & restaurants. August Program Spotlight: Artistic Residency Program is not just a way to teach the arts, but it is also used as an avenue of exploration. In Fall 2016, teaching artist Sarah Plotkin led an Artistic Residency Program in Drama for third graders at PS163. Over the course of six weeks, she guided students through using their imagination to explore sound, movement, and the environment of various animals.
