Karen, a very bright, 21 year old prostituted youth was able to escape her pimp with quick thinking and bravery.
Karen had found refuge in a safehouse with the help of a social worker who told her to call us.
She desperately wanted to graduate high school so we enrolled her in our one on one high school tutoring program.
She was diligent in her tuturoing twice a week and scored remarkably high in 3 sections of the test.
The fourth section was math and she needed some help.
While she was working with an assistant district attorney to prosecute the pimp who abused her, and facing her past trauma, she kept up with her math tutoring.
With her spirit unbroken - next year she will attend our onsite high school graduation complete with cap, gown, and diploma, hotel stay at Universay Studios City Walk, dinners and a visit to Universal Studios.
Our next steps with Karen include her resume preparation, applications to vocatonal, trade schools or community colleges and a financial aid package.
It is never to late to regain your childhood.
