Mary, 22, called requesting help to find safe housing after escaping her abusive pimp in Vermont.
Children of the Night found a temporary placement in Vermont, and we helped her find an apartment to rent.
After finding an apartment, we sent Mary a complete care package of food, hygiene, clothing, and some furnishings from Amazon.
Mary was so grateful and wrote,
"I wish I could think of a better way than thank you to show my gratitude. I have not had things this nice in a while; it means a lot.”
Mary showed an early interest in starting our tutoring program. We worked with her schedule and she started ZOOM classes with our tutors twice a week.
As a student, she has been enthusiastic about class every week and finds it “fun to have homework.”
Mary has shown commitment to her studies, taking on extra tutoring sessions to accelerate
her learning.
Although Mary has a predisposed medical condition that fluctuates her energy and mood, she is always attentive in class, participating in lectures, and asking our tutor questions.
After just a little over a month, Mary is ready and scheduled to take her GED Reading & Language Arts exam in June.
She is currently studying for the Social Studies GED exam as well.

Mary dreams of becoming an assistant nurse.
She is already taking the first steps by focusing on her GED studies.
