Beyond the health impacts of the coronavirus, many vulnerable communities now do not know where their next meal will come from. In response, WCK has launched nationwide in the US to provide meals to children & their families, healthcare workers, and the elderly. In just 24 days, we have served 1 million meals in 82 cities. And this is just the start - we want and need to do more. With your support, we can reach more people in need and help one another get through this difficult time.
We are facing an unprecedented emergency, unlike anything this country has experienced. Beyond the health impacts of COVID-19, our economy has ground to a halt. Traditional safety nets like school feeding programs, childcare services, and senior centers are struggling to stay open. Millions of Americans are now out of work and struggling to put food on the table for their families.
WCK is working with local organizations and community leaders to ensure that kids and vulnerable populations receive the meals they need during these uncertain times. WCK is feeding healthcare workers on the front lines, the elderly, children and their families, as well as people who are suddenly in a situation where they no longer have a paycheck. WCK's response is evolving to integrate restaurants and meal delivery companies so we have large-scale reach while supporting the food industry.
WCK is partnering with restaurants to provide meals to those in need. With this integrated model, meals will cost approximately $10 each to cover 1) the price of the ingredients and 2) a wage for restaurant employees. With the support of generous donors, WCK is activating restaurants that have been shut down to help meet the growing need for food while at the same time providing jobs for their staff who may otherwise be out of work.
