In Faisalabad’s rural areas, the journey of women towards economic independence continues through the Women Vegetable Clubs (WVC). These clubs are not only providing women with the means to farm organically but are also building their confidence as entrepreneurs.
One inspiring story comes from Shazia, a mother of three who recently joined the project. With the support of a small revolving loan, she was able to lease one acre of land and begin cultivating seasonal vegetables such as spinach, coriander, and radishes. Despite initial challenges, Shazia’s determination has turned her farm into a source of steady income. She now sells her produce in the local market, earning enough to contribute to household expenses and ensure her children’s schooling.
For Shazia, this is more than farming; it is a step toward dignity and recognition in her community. Like many women before her, she has proven that with opportunity and support, rural women can break cycles of poverty and become leaders of change.
AWARD Pakistan is committed to expanding this initiative to more rural areas, multiplying the impact across 10 communities. Your support helps women like Shazia transform hardship into opportunity and build a better future for their families.
