SMPD Sewing Center Update
The SMPD Sewing Center is more than just a place where women learn tailoring skills—it is a center of learning, empowerment, and transformation. It provides marginalized women with opportunities to grow both socially and economically, enabling them to become confident, self-reliant, and active contributors to their families and communities.
The center welcomes women from vulnerable backgrounds, including widows, orphaned young women, and persons with disabilities (PWDs). Every participant is treated with dignity, respect, and equality, regardless of their background or circumstances. The learning environment promotes inclusion, mutual support, and personal development alongside vocational training.
Currently, 12 women are enrolled in the sewing center, where they are receiving hands-on training in tailoring and sewing. Through this training, they are developing practical skills that will enable them to earn a sustainable and dignified livelihood. In addition to technical skills, the women are encouraged to build self-confidence, work together, and recognize their value and potential.
The vision of the SMPD Sewing Center is not only to teach sewing but also to empower women to break the cycle of poverty through skill development and economic independence. By equipping them with marketable skills, the center is helping them create better opportunities for themselves and their families while restoring hope and dignity for a brighter future.
