Under this Project, we have started menstrual Hygiene Education in schools where were health educate both girls and boys aged 9 -16 about menstrual Hygiene. This is aimed to let the target people to have knowledge about menstration. We educate them how t the girls can manage their menstruation, how to be clean while menstrating. The boys also get to know about menstration and take it as being normal for girls to menstrate. This is also aimed to reduce the days girls miss school during menstrual to fear being laughed at by boys, and also young girls who have never menstrated being prepared for menstration.
The project also aims to educate the school adminstrators on how they should treat girls while in their periods. Also to create wash rooms for girls that are seperate from the boys.
We form menstrual Hygiene clubs in the schools to continue with the education even after we have left.
We also train both boys and girls on how to make re-usable sanitary pads using local materials and those they can sew using hand niddles.
We have so far visited 5 schools.
We will continue with the project
