The proposed project is aimed at promotion of women empowerment through gender mainstreaming. This will be done through promotion of women participation through capacity building and skills training to be independent among five selected villages in the Lubombo Region of Swaziland. Sinatsisa Lubombo is a registered Local Non-Governmental Organization, Non-Political, non-religious working in partnership with both local and international Partners tackling poverty cases, responding to emergencies.
Women in Swaziland are treated as minors, they do not access loans from financial institutions without approval of their spouses of which if the spouse does not approve of the project to be undertaken by their partners, they end up remaining non-starters and the women still remain dependents of their spouses. Women in Swaziland are regarded as home keepers regardless of their educational status. While young girls are forced to dropout of school due to early teenage pregnancy.
The project is focusing on capacity building of the women and young girls who are socially and economically disadvantaged. Poverty and unemployment levels are still very high among the women both in urban and rural communities of the region. These challenges among other issues of underdevelopment have precipitated a vicious cycle of poverty and hopelessness from which many women and families find impossible to overcome. The project seeks to holistically develop& assist these women.
The graduates on satisfactorily completion of their course will be able to start their own businesses thereby creating job opportunities for themselves and other community members as well. They will also be in a position to get relevant employment more especially the young girls. The community will easily access the products and services resulting from the project at affordable rates. The project will be able to train more people from the community at different intervals.
