Camperships for Ecological Wilderness Camping

Camp Forest will kick off the 2016 summer season this June 13-17 on the Passagassawakeg River in Midcoast Maine! This five day, four night expedition with be a memorable adventure for kids of all ages. With a team of experienced paddlers and survivalists, combining primitive skills and backcountry canoeing, children will learn hands on whaite water canoe techniques and food foraging while exploring the Passagassawakeg River. This exciting weeklong expedition ends with a triumphant entry into the belfast Harbor. 

According to the National Wildlife Federation, in the last two decades, childhood has moved indoors. The average American boy or girl spends as few as 30 minutes in unstructured outdoor play each day, and more than seven hours each day in front of an electronic screen. Camp Forest offers children a fun and engaging experience outdoors with trained professionals where days fly by under the sun, and without technology as they enjoy nature's boundy and the company of friends and peers. Due to economical struggles families face, we understand summer camp fees are a challenge to familes. At Camp Forest, we strive to offer a quality, State of Maine licensed Summer Camp at a low cost. Even so, we have found that summer camp is just not in eveyone's budget. We believe that it is in our childrens' best interest to make summer camp available for all children, and particularly those of low income familes where stress can be relieved through outdoor play. Camp Forest's Campership Program was established to assist families who qualify make summer camp more affordable. With great interest and support, and the increasing awareness of the benefits of outdoor play, Camp Forest Camperships have provided dozens of children attend a memorable Camp Forest experience every summer!

WAKE UP CAMP FOREST!

Camp Forest is waking up to a new year 2016. Preparing for summer camp begins late in the year before but really wakes up in March. The website gets its new camp schedule. Take a look, http://www.campforestmaine.com Still a bit to go but the schedule is there! An exciting new addition of Camp Forest Institute, classes and apprenticeships for adults in partnership with Stone’s Guiding.   How often the parents have said, “wish we had a Camp Forest”, so now they do.   Many of the offerings are residential so they can come and spend a week.

Thanks to you donors children who otherwise could not financially attend were able to take advantage of the educational opportunity at Camp Forest.   Many of the campership children are in difficult and vulnerable situations and the camp provides them with a great deal of peace and resiliency training.

As you plan your summer, consider donating a campership to Camp Forest for a child to get outside and learn the healing in nature; to gain confidence from learning survival skills and interpersonal skills before entering the world of school in the fall.
