Wigs for a smile

Thank you for taking the time to read our quarterly report. Since January 2024 we've been very active, both promoting this great cause and making wigs for children throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina who've suffered temporary or permanent hair loss. In this period, we've provided 4 new wigs, 2 for pediatric cancer patients, and 2 for alopecia sufferers.

In the last 4 months, since our last report, we've had an additional 1231 hair donors, from around the world, from children, women, and men, young and old, from all walks of life. To make it easier for our users, we have created wig maintenance instructions for wig users which we are particularly proud of.

We would like to thank all our donors for their valuable donations and kind words of support. In the second part of 2024, our focus will be on designing and making children’s wigs. At the end of 2024, we are planning to hold another public hair donation campaign in Sarajevo and we hope that this event will be the traditional crown of our work during the year.

Please consider telling your friends and family about our project and sharing it locally or globally, via social networks. Every penny, euro cent, or pfennig counts. Since hair loss is a very painful and traumatizing experience, for both children and their parents, and the availability of natural-looking, human hair wigs will greatly help cushion the impact of such trauma.

Dear Wigs for a Smile Supporters,

We've continued to provide natural hair wigs to children and youth across Bosnia and Herzegovina suffering from permanent or temporary hair loss. Four wigs were delivered to girls aged 8-17. On a mannequin, the wig looks nice, a bit distant but when our children or young girls touch it, the wigs become magical. When you look at them on their heads, they look so beautiful, so phenomenal at the very least. Also, they look so natural that you'd never guess it was a wig. However, the most important thing these children and young girls/women are happy and content - physically and psychologically.

Project Wigs for a Smile makes wonderful stories, from hair donation stories to beautiful and content wig owners at the end of the day. We thank all patients and wig users who let us share their photos and stories with their wigs.

In Oktober 2023 we held our annual hair donation campaign in Sarajevo City Center. It was by far our most successful event of the year, and we collected 290 donations of hair from girls, boys, men, and women all over Bosnia and Herzegovina who came to participate in this event (247 on the spot). More than 25 hairdressers from 15 participating hair salons, and 20 volunteers came together to make this campaign possible.

During the year 2023, we created a short wig maintenance guide that our users receive when picking up a wig. This instruction will greatly facilitate the maintenance and extend the life of the wig.

Also, we want to thank all our hair donors - all 16044 of them so far for bringing a smile to someone's face, without even knowing them. We thank them for each piece of their soul that they dedicated to this project.
