Training Momentum!

By Ellie Angelova Parkes | Development Manager

As we had shared with you earlier, the World Pulse community and training team engaged last year in research to assess how we can best continue to support the training needs of all the members of our online community. This included both quantitative surveys that we sent to over 20,000 members as well as qualitative research (strategic focus group discussions and individual discussions). From these key learnings, this winter we've been gearing up to reach more women in 2015 than ever before with our Digital Empowerment training!
One of the key requests we heard from our community is desire for self-guided training modules. In response to that, we've kicked off a new training program for our Online Community Leaders, starting with creating core training modules (such as Self Care and Online Safety and Security training). Our online community leadership program consists of individuals who drive and shape our community. This quarter we developed training for our Welcomers, Listeners, and Online Community Champions. We're also gearing up for training our Translators next quarter. The feedback so far has been incredibly positive!
In addition, we are collaborating with our partners at Intel to create an integrated digital empowerment curriculum that we'll be piloting in Kenya and Nigeria. And finally, we are starting to gear up for our World Pulse digital empowerment "Train-the-Trainer" program, so that women have the enhanced tools and the support they need for training women in their own local communities.

Looking further in 2015, we will be launching the next evolution of the Voices of Our Future program. We will be keeping the core of what has worked from the past, while incorporating what we've learned from listening to what our community is demanding right now: spaces for mobilizing and movement building with the support of digital tools.
We thank you for reading this report and for your dedicated support to our work and the thousands of grassroots women leaders in the World Pulse community.
