More than a month after the devastating floods struck Nepal, the humanitarian emergency is changing — but it is far from over.
Around 84,000 people are still estimated to need humanitarian assistance, including approximately 22,000 children. Thousands of families remain displaced, while damaged roads and bridges continue to make some affected communities difficult to reach. Recent heavy rainfall has further worsened conditions, damaging temporary shelters and adding new pressure on families who have already lost homes and livelihoods.
Food security is becoming an increasing concern. Emergency food supplies are running low for some displaced families, while destroyed farmland and lost livelihoods mean that the effects of this disaster will continue long after the floodwaters have receded. With winter approaching, safe shelter, food, clean water, health care, and protection for children and vulnerable families remain urgent priorities.
Humanitarian organizations and local responders continue working across affected areas, delivering food, shelter, medical assistance, clean water, and other essential support. But recovery from a disaster of this scale will take time.
SIKETIS NERGI continues to follow the humanitarian situation and keep attention on the families whose emergency did not end when Nepal disappeared from the headlines.
Recovery will take time. Nepal’s survivors still need the world to remember them.
Thank you to everyone who continues to stand with Nepal.
