One month has passed since the devastating floods struck Nepal. The immediate shock of the disaster may have faded from the headlines, but for thousands of affected families, the consequences remain very real.
Search and recovery efforts have continued, while communities face the much longer challenge of rebuilding their lives. Damaged roads and bridges continue to complicate access in some areas, and humanitarian needs are evolving as the response moves beyond the first emergency phase.
Safe water, health care, disease prevention, shelter, psychosocial support, and assistance for families rebuilding their lives remain important needs. Children, displaced families, and people living in remote communities are among those facing particularly difficult circumstances.
International humanitarian organizations and Nepalese responders continue their work, while recovery and reconstruction are expected to require sustained support well beyond the first weeks of the disaster.
SIKETIS NERGI continues to follow the humanitarian situation in Nepal and to raise awareness through our GlobalGiving campaign. We remain committed to keeping our supporters informed as the situation develops.
One month later, Nepal may no longer dominate the headlines. But for families who lost loved ones, homes, livelihoods, and security, recovery has only begun.
Thank you to everyone who continues to stand with Nepal.
