Progress and Impact Report – Fundación Estrellita de Belén & GlobalGiving

Thanks to the support received through GlobalGiving, our work has reached farther than we imagined, touching the lives of hundreds of children, families, and health professionals across communities in need.

How many adults have benefited from this project thus far?

  • 15 volunteers who have actively contributed to the success of the project

  • 40 doctors engaged in providing life-saving care

  • 25 secretaries supporting administrative and logistical efforts

  • 35 nurses delivering essential medical attention and care

  • 500 parents empowered with knowledge, support, and resources for their children’s health

.This includes dedicated parents who have stood by their children through difficult diagnoses and treatments, as well as nurses, volunteers, and doctors who have received both emotional support and resources to help them care for children with congenital heart disease. Many of these families had never before received such guidance or accompaniment—and for them, this has made all the difference.

How many children have benefited from this project thus far?

  • 9 life-changing procedures provided in private clinics, giving children a second chance at life

  • 233 private cardiology appointments arranged to ensure timely and specialized care

  • 60 children supported with essential medicines to manage their condition

  • 55 bags of milk supplied for vital nutrition to aid recovery and growth

  • 40 oximeters donated to local low-income hospitals, improving monitoring capacity

  • 5 Holter monitors and multiple lab tests conducted for accurate diagnosis and follow-up

  • 8 boxes of medical supplies shipped to assist hospitals, clinics, and families in need

  • More than 120 gifts delivered to children, bringing moments of joy during difficult times

These include children who received cardiac evaluations, nutritional and medical support, and most importantly, 9 life-saving cardiac procedures performed in private clinics that generously partnered with us. These procedures—impossible to access through the public system—offered these children not only medical relief but the opportunity for a future filled with possibilities. Each of their hearts now beats stronger thanks to this collective effort.

How many health professionals have benefited from this project thus far?

A total of 100 health professionals have benefited through our programs. Cardiologists, hemodynamic nurses, and pediatric care providers were not only supported with physical tools, but also with collaborative partnerships that helped them serve patients more effectively. Our mission empowers the entire circle of care.

How many hospitals, community centers, or health centers have benefited from this project thus far?

20 facilities—including hospitals, community centers, and cardiac units—have directly benefited through our interventions, receiving vital equipment, supplies, or training support. Each one now plays a stronger role in its community’s cardiac care response.

How much food, nutrition supplements, medicines, or vitamins have been distributed thus far?

With your support, we’ve distributed:

  • Over 55 units of milk and nutritional supplements, especially for children in pre- or post-op recovery.

  • 120 units of essential medicines, including cardiac and post-surgical prescriptions.

  • 40 oximeters, giving families the ability to monitor oxygen levels and prevent complications at home.

  • 8 shipping boxes filled with medical supplies, clothes, and toys—gifts of hope for children during long and difficult hospital stays.

  • Additionally, we helped Fundación De Todo Corazón by purchasing Holter monitor cables and supplies, allowing them to continue vital diagnostic services for cardiac patients.

This grant has empowered us to not only provide treatments but also restore dignity and hope. Behind every number is a name, a story, and a family that will never forget the chance they were given. You made that possible.

With heartfelt gratitude,
