Every child deserves the chance to grow up with a healthy heart, yet for many families facing congenital heart disease (CHD), access to care remains out of reach. At Fundación Estrellita de Belén, we work every day to bridge that gap by providing lifesaving support, medical assistance, and education to vulnerable children and their caregivers.
This reporting period, our work focused not only on helping children receive critical medical attention, but also on empowering parents with the knowledge and tools they need to advocate for their children’s health.
One story that deeply touched us was that of a young mother who traveled hours to bring her child to one of our cardiology appointments. She had spent years searching for answers, unsure of why her child was constantly fatigued and struggling to keep up with other children. Through the support of our foundation, the child received specialized evaluations, laboratory testing, and follow-up care that finally provided clarity and hope.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to provide cardiology appointments, essential laboratory exams, and medical guidance for children living with CHD. Many of these families cannot afford even the most basic healthcare services, making these interventions truly lifesaving.
But our mission goes beyond medical assistance. We believe education is one of the most powerful tools we can offer families. Throughout our outreach efforts, we educated parents about congenital heart disease, helping them understand symptoms, treatment options, follow-up care, nutrition, and the importance of early detection. Many parents shared that before attending our educational sessions, they felt isolated and overwhelmed. Afterward, they felt informed, supported, and empowered to care for their children with confidence.
Our team also continued building awareness in the Hispanic community, where language barriers and limited access to specialized information often prevent families from receiving timely care. By providing culturally sensitive education and advocacy, we are helping families better navigate complex healthcare systems and fight for their children’s futures.
Every appointment, every lab test, and every educational conversation represents more than medical care — it represents hope. It means a parent no longer feels alone. It means a child has a better chance at survival and a healthier future.
None of this would be possible without the compassion and generosity of donors who believe in our mission. Your support is helping us heal hearts, restore hope, and remind families that they are not forgotten. Together, we are creating a future where every child with congenital heart disease has the opportunity to thrive.
