Los Medranos College in Antioch, CA has a large pond where visitors will find both wild and domestic waterfowl. Unfortunately, the college pond is a dumping grounds for domestic waterfowl. We were contacted by a concerned waterfowl lover who has been caring for the waterfowl there for 15 years. She was worried about the old blind goose who couldn't walk anymore. She had been visiting him daily to give him food & water.
A volunteer and I met our waterfowl lover friend at the pond. We agreed that that the old goose needed to be rescued. He was taken to Medical Center For Birds for veterinary evaluation. Dr. Brenna Fitzgerald named him Sir Lancelot, a very fitting and regal name for such a distinguished elderly goose.
Presently, Lance is living happily in sanctuary at Pacific Waterfowl Rescue. He receives pain medication twice daily for his severe arthritis and subcutaneous fluids for some mild kidney disease. Without the intervention of a concerned waterfowl lover, Lance would not have survived.
Thanks to YOU, we are able to continue providing for Lance as well as others that need veterinary care.
